Are you eligible for the First Home Owner Grant? |

| From the 1st of July 2000, the government will provide eligible
first home buyers to receive a one-ff-payment of $7000 for all
Australian's. Below are the basic principals of gaining the
First Home Owner's Grant. |
- Applicants must be of a natural person(s), who are Australian Citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must be buying or building their first home in Australia. For couples this criterion can be meet by only one applicant.
- A home must be occupied by the applicant(s) as their principal place of residence (within 12 months of settlement or completion of construction).
- An applicant or spouse may not neither own a property before the 1st of July 2000, nor claim for the First Home Owner's Grant previously.
- Applying for the First Home Owner's Grant must be within the 12 months of settlement or completion of construction, after the period of the 1st of July 2000.
- The property must be within the same State or Territory as the application.
- An eligible home includes either a new or established house, home unit, flat or other type of self contained fixed dwelling that must be approved by your local council.
- Joint applicants are permitted to one application only (i.e. only one payment of $7,000 is permitted).
- No tax is payable to the grant nor is the grant assistance a means test.
